| Club General Manager
- Chris Johnson
Hi, my name is Chris and I am the
General Manager of the club. I have a degree in Finance from
Fresno State University and when I started here seven years ago, I
was the resident towel boy. Over the next several years, I
virtually worked my way through every department in the club.
I went from towel boy to maintenance, I worked as a tennis
instructor, and I flipped burgers in the cafe. By the third
year, I was part of the front desk team and working in the Kid's
Camp program. So far the only department I have not conquered
is aerobics! The experience I have gained
over the past five years has enabled me to lead our team as General
Manager of the club. (559)

I was born in London, (you'll notice the accent if you
talk to me long enough), and moved to the USA to play soccer for Merced College. Soccer is
my true passion and I enjoy coaching my son's soccer teams and keeping track of English
soccer on the Internet. As fitness director,
it is my goal to provide our members with educated, creative and motivating fitness
professionals to help them obtain their fitness goals. I am very focused on what I do. In
fact, I am often teased about the fact that I don't smile enough. (I'm just
concentrating.) One good thing is my clients know they have my full attention during a
workout. I guess I just really care about helping people and enjoy being
a part of the members progress
with their overall personal fitness.
If you have questions about exercise, come talk to me. I'd love to help.

Tennis Professional - Mike Pearson USPTA
Hi, I'm Mike Pearson and I am the Head Tennis
Professional at Dan Gamel's Health and Racquet Club. I have been teaching in Fresno for
over 24 years. I am also a clinician for the United States Tennis Association's school
program. I have run after-school tennis programs for the Fresno Unified School District
for the past 7 years, and I now head the same program for Clovis Unified School District.
My tennis career started at age 14. A late start for most, but nevertheless it led me into
an exciting and productive career. I attended Wheatland High School while my father was
stationed at Beale Air Force Base in Northern California. I played on the Varsity Tennis
Team my freshman, sophomore, and junior years at the number two spot. My senior year we
moved to Riverside, CA where I attended Notre Dame High School, which had no tennis team.
I then moved on to Riverside City College where I played on the tennis team at the number
two spot for the next two years. The next stop was Fresno State where I played under the
direction of Coach Duane Ballard for two years.
I am most known for my teaching expertise of the beginning to intermediate levels of
players of all ages. I have one goal in my teaching career: to get a tennis racquet into
the hands of as many people as possible!
